The lane departure warning system in your vehicle uses a camera mounted at the top center of the windshield. The camera reads the painted lines on the road and alerts you, or steers the vehicle back into the lane, if you start to drift. When the windshield is replaced, that camera has to be recalibrated. Why the camera matters Lane departure cameras are sensitive to position. A few millimeters of misalignment can shift the camera’s field of view enough that it reads the lane lines incorrectly. After a windshield replacement, the camera is reattached to the new glass and then calibrated against manufacturer-specified targets or through a road drive, depending on the vehicle. What we do We use OEE or OEM quality glass with the proper bracket for your camera. Our technicians are ADAS certified and AGSC Dupont certified. We perform the calibration in-house, whether your vehicle needs static, dynamic, or both. The calibration is included in the cost of the replacement. Call 502-709-8693 to schedule.

FAQ

Will my lane keeping assist still work after a replacement?

Yes, once we recalibrate the camera. Skipping that step is what causes problems, and we don’t release a vehicle until it’s complete.

What if my LDW was acting up before the replacement?

Tell us when you schedule. If there’s a sensor or wiring issue separate from the glass, we’ll let you know what we find.

Is this covered by insurance?

Yes, in almost all cases. Comprehensive coverage includes both the glass and the calibration.
