After most modern windshield replacements, the camera or sensor mounted to the glass needs to be recalibrated so the vehicle’s safety systems work properly. Static ADAS calibration is one of two ways to do that. It happens in our shop, with the vehicle stationary, using manufacturer-specified targets and measurement equipment. What is static ADAS calibration Static calibration is performed indoors on a level surface, with the vehicle positioned precisely in relation to a set of targets. We follow the manufacturer’s procedure for your vehicle, which can include laser alignment, specific target placement, and software adjustments. The process makes sure cameras and sensors are seeing the road the way they were designed to. When is static calibration needed Most camera-based systems mounted behind the windshield need a static calibration when the glass is replaced. This includes lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. Some vehicles require static calibration even when no glass work has been done, if a sensor has been bumped or replaced. Our process All of our technicians are ADAS certified and AGSC Dupont certified. We use OEE or OEM quality glass, and we complete the calibration in-house so you don’t have to make a second appointment at a dealership. If your vehicle requires dynamic calibration after the static work, we handle that too. If you have comprehensive auto insurance, calibration is almost always covered as part of the windshield replacement. We file the claim for you and take care of the paperwork.
